<p>Since when did Instagram likes determine someone&#8217;s value, worth, or even competency? Our generation has transformed the boundaries with all things technology based in the last few years. There are all types of social media platforms to fit our every want and desire. Instagram, Snap chat, Twitter, and Facebook (yes, I still use Facebook) are just a few of the most popular ones out there. There were two intended uses for these networks when they were formed.</p>

<li> For users to be able to establish connections among people that you may not have connected with on a regular day</li>
<li>For users to maintain relationships already formed (i.e. A friend that moved to another state)</li>
</ol>
<p>Although these were the intended uses, like many things, these platforms have been abused and misconstrued to turn into something vicious. People now feel a sense of inferiority because of social media.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve found myself at times weighing my worth against others because they&#8217;d have more comments or likes than I would have. Maybe my hair doesn&#8217;t look as good as theirs&#8230; or maybe my outfit wasn&#8217;t as nice. Sometimes the thought may even be, maybe I don&#8217;t have as many friends as them. All of this is nonsense. Likes don&#8217;t coincide with who you are as a person and what you have to offer the world. Instagram, Facebook, and Yeti are not dictators to you. Don&#8217;t allow them to have that type of power over your life.</p>
