Baby Phat is Back!

The year is 2019.
The number one song on Billboard is Old Town Road.
There are cars that run on electricity.
Global warming is very much so a thing.
And somewhere in America, Kimora Lee Simmons (now Kimora Lee Leissner) was planning a comeback.

The iconic brand, Baby Phat has been revived by the model/mogul almost 10 years after it was sold by Russell Simmons.

As a child of the 90’s and early 2000’s, I can appreciate the nostalgia that Baby Phat triggers. I remember begging for the puffer coats, jeans and over-the-top shoes. I remember the pride that girls and women would exude when they wore the brand. So as you can imagine, I was beyond excited when I learned of Baby Phat’s collaboration with Forever21.

In my excitement, I found myself scrolling the pages of Forever21 at 1 a.m. to get a feel for what the collaboration would look like. I must say that in my excitement, I expected a little more but I am still thrilled at the thought of a resurgence.

These are the two items I picked up from the collection. An embroidered sweatshirt and a bedazzled crop tee.

You can check out the rest of the collection on Forever21’s site and if this collection wasn’t your style, no worries. Baby Phat will be releasing more items via their own site later in the year and 2003 Shaakira will be waiting.
