How to: Patchwork Denim Jacket

Over a year ago, while browsing pictures on Pinterest, I saw pictures of beautiful patchwork denim jackets. Instantly, I knew that I had to create my own. However, I knew that I wanted my denim jacket to be a reflection of who I am and what my interests are. As you can imagine, in order for me to accomplish that, I had to wait a long time to find the patches that meant something to me.

Recently, while I was scrolling through Twitter, I found a post from a Black owned business that sold patches. The patches were inspired but 90’s tv shows, Black culture, and Black artists. I was sold.

I placed an order for the iron on patches and they arrived in about 2 weeks. A few of the patches are from a vendor on Etsy (links at the end of this blog post) and those patches weren’t iron-on. To adhere those patches to the jacket, I used E6000 glue. So far, I haven’t had any issues with the patches coming off or lifting but if I do in the future, I’ll use a sewing machine to stitch the patches to the jacket.

Since this has been such a long process for me, I definitely wanted to share the process with you all with a YouTube video and pictures of the finished product below!

If you recreate yours, I hope that you enjoy the process and find patches that represent you!

From me to you, love.
