<p>Scripted television is finally on the rise again! I don&#8217;t know about you, but I was getting tired of the reality tv shenanigans. There&#8217;s only so many table flips and drink throws a girl can take. <a href="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/giphy.gif"><img class=" wp-image-1750 aligncenter" src="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/giphy.gif" alt="" width="391" height="220" /></a>So as you can imagine, I&#8217;ve been throughly pleased with the resurgence of television that requires actual writers, directors, and sets. If you&#8217;re like me, then you may want to check out these shows for the fall season. <strong>(Also, if you want to continue to see shows with African American actors/directors/writers, you must be sure to tune in! If we aren&#8217;t watching the shows, networks won&#8217;t renew them for more seasons.)</strong> Here are 5 Fall shows to check out:</p>
<ol>
<li><span style="color:#800000;"><strong>Scandal</strong></span> (the final season)</li>
</ol>
<p><a href="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/giphy-1.gif"><img class="size-full wp-image-1751 aligncenter" src="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/giphy-1.gif" alt="" width="480" height="270" /></a></p>
<p>Seems like just yesterday, I was running down the hallway of my freshman dorm to make it to the common area. We always had popcorn ready for the new episode of Shonda Rhime&#8217;s hit show. Now that Scandal is in its final season, we get to see Olivia take charge in the White House&#8230; or does she? <strong><span style="color:#800000;">Scandal aires Thursdays at 9 p.m. est on ABC</span></strong></p>
<p>2. <strong><span style="color:#800000;">Queen Sugar</span></strong></p>
<p><a href="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/queensugar.jpeg"><img class=" wp-image-1752 aligncenter" src="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/queensugar.jpeg" alt="" width="488" height="330" /></a></p>
<p>Queen Sugar follows the lives of 3 siblings, Ralph Angel, Nova, and Charlie. After the death of their father, they must figure out the different directions for their lives. Based in New Orleans and depicting the life of sugar cane farmers, this show is a relatable take on the issues people face everyday. Oh, and the creator, Ava Duvernay makes sure that women direct every episode. #GirlPower <strong><span style="color:#800000;">Queen Sugar aires Wednesdays at 10 p.m. est on OWN</span></strong></p>
<p>3. <span style="color:#800000;"><strong>Blackish</strong></span></p>
<p><a href="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/blackish-101_0.jpg"><img class=" wp-image-1753 aligncenter" src="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/blackish-101_0.jpg" alt="" width="547" height="310" /></a></p>
<p>Ok, first I need to know why no one told me this show was SO GOOD! My first time watching it was last week&#8217;s season premiere and let&#8217;s just say, <strong>they went there. </strong>The episode was all about Juneteenth and its importance on African Americans today. Catch me for my Juneteenth cookout next year. If you&#8217;d like to see a snippet of it, click <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_FP7x322cc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here.</a> <strong><span style="color:#800000;">Blackish aires Tuesdays at 9 p.m. est on ABC</span></strong></p>
<p>4. <span style="color:#800000;"><strong>Empire</strong></span></p>
<p><a href="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/170807-empire.jpg"><img class=" wp-image-1756 aligncenter" src="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/170807-empire.jpg" alt="" width="511" height="341" /></a></p>
<p>You all already know I love Cookie Lyon so this season is important to me. After Luscious lost a leg and his memory from last season&#8217;s car explosion, she was left in charge to keep Empire running. I can&#8217;t wait to see how this family moves forward now that Luscious isn&#8217;t running the show. <strong><span style="color:#800000;">Empire aires Wednesdays at 8 p.m. est on FOX</span></strong></p>
<p>5. <span style="color:#800000;"><strong>Star</strong></span></p>
<p><a href="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/170814-star.jpg"><img class=" wp-image-1757 aligncenter" src="https://queentoqueens.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/170814-star.jpg" alt="" width="538" height="359" /></a></p>
<p>Although I have mixed feelings about the show being named after one character (and the most annoying one at that), I still tune in every week. This show allows you to follow the lives of an up and coming girl group struggling to break into the music industry. <span style="color:#800000;"><strong>Star aires Wednesdays at 9 p.m. est on FOX (right after Empire)</strong></span></p>
<p>Happy viewing!</p>
<p>*You can also check out, <strong>Greenleaf</strong> (OWN), <strong>The Mayor</strong> (ABC), <strong>SWAT</strong> (CBS) and <strong>Ghosted</strong> (FOX)*</p>
