My Fave Looks from the Met Gala

IMG_2059  The Met Gala is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Each year, the Gala incorporates a theme that attendees can follow for their wardrobe looks. (just think of it as a big and expensive Halloween party for celebrities)

This year’s theme was, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. Attendees used the theme to bring their own interpretations to life and below are some of my favorite looks from this year’s Met.

It’s only right that we kick this off with the Queen of Met Gala looks, Rihanna. For the past 4 years, she has been the best dressed person in attendance (we can debate offline if you’d like). Following this year’s theme, she dressed as the pope in this pearl and jewel encrusted ensemble. Not to mention, she arrived in a car resembling one that the pope uses for parades.

Next, SZA arrived at her first Met Gala in a pale pink tulle gown featuring thigh high boots. I would have never thought to pair thigh highs with a formal gown but she definitely pulled it off. Not to mention, her head piece was stunningly beautiful.

The Princess of the Met Gala, Zendaya, came dressed as Joan of Arc. With her dress mimicking a high fashion armored suit and red wig, Zendaya nailed the look she was channeling.

Can Solange do any wrong in my eyes? Probably not. She arrived in a black ensemble and (get this…) a durag. A DURAG! It doesn’t get any Blacker than that. Later that night she posted a video on Instagram that revealed the words, “My God Wears a Durag” etched into the bottom of the durag. Go off, sis.

Chadwick Boseman, or the ‘Black Panther’ as we’ve grown to call him (btw, we have to stop asking him to do the Wakanda Forever thing… he’s getting tired of it) was the best dressed man of the evening. Although you can’t see it in these pictures, his hair had gold glitter and sparkles throughout it to complement his look.

Jasmine Sanders looked beautiful in this unique gold gown. There was something about the neckline that made it all the more intriguing to look at and we can’t overlook the red roses in her hair.

Last but not least, Ariana Grande wore this beautiful gown, which upon closer inspection was a replica of the painting inside the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. Her tulle bow and makeup were the perfect cherry on top.

I could go on, but we’ll leave it there for now. If you want to look up more of my favorite looks from the Met Gala, take a look at Letitia Wright, Blake Lively, Alek Wek, and Cardi B who were  all just as stunning as the people above.

Stay stylish, my friends.
